Stereo Disparity Remapping

Stereo disparity remapping, can be considered as a post processing step of stereo content generation pipeline where the disparity of the segmented object is to be remapped (increased or decreased) to achieve better visual performance. Emphasizing/de-emphasizing an object of interest by adjusting its depth in forward or backward direction might be necessary for visual comfort and appelaing. It can also be used for retargeting of stereo footage for different display sizes and resolutions. The examples below show the results of object disparity remapping in both directions. A stereo object that is initially recorded at a uncomfortable disparity zone can be corrected by applying positive disparity (moving object further so the eyes can converge). On the other hand it might be necessary to emphesize and differentiate an object shooted at such a disparity that the perceived object is too close to the background.
